Headwind

This photographic series explores a process of personal transformation — a gradual movement away from the familiar, sometimes monotonous circumstances of my life and into a period marked by uncertainty, exhaustion, and change.

I photograph empty, disused, and unfinished spaces undergoing renovation. These places are connected in different ways to the environments and circumstances in which I have existed until now, while simultaneously suggesting their abandonment and the possibility of moving beyond them.

The traces of construction and transformation become a visual representation of an in-between state. The old structures are beginning to break down, while the new ones have not yet taken their final form. Half-finished interiors, abandoned elements, and the traces of ongoing work reflect both the external process of transformation and the internal work that accompanies it.

At the centre of the series are questions of identity and transition. I am no longer entirely the person I once was, yet I have not fully become the person I am going to be. The spaces exist in a similar state of uncertainty — suspended between what they were and what they are yet to become.

Through these spaces, I explore the ambiguity of leaving something behind without yet knowing exactly what lies ahead.
